I frank admission, a very bold and brave move.

Very few people in positions of authority, whether private,

made. This one is a doozy of a mistake. Try admitting that the

Joe Williams Sr. (inventor, cusp of gazillionairdom) hopes to cut your fuel costs in half while eliminating those pesky greenhouse gases. How? Well, his H2N-Gen (Hydrogen Generating Module) injects hydrogen and oxygen gases into any of earth’s one billion combustion engines resulting in a cleaner burn — upping efficiency from 35% to at least 97% thereby reducing fuel consumption by “10 to 40 per cent” with 0 pollutants out the pipe. Basically, the “DVD player” sized H2N-Gen uses current fed from the car’s battery to generate the hydrogen and oxygen from a distilled water and chemical mixture. The idea and technology is not new, as several companies are currently working on this — but none with the same success demonstrated by Williams to date. He claims his device has “over 80 million miles” of successful testing and hopes to bring the product to market in 6 to 12 months. The Gazette ran their own tests with an H2N-Gen prototype strapped to their 2000 Jeep Cherokee and found a 10% or so savings in fuel with 0 emissions. Williams is being sued for patent infringement as proof of this market’s potential payoff. We’ll take two — not that we actually own a car, but we’re suckers for anything sporting old school toggle flip switches.

these are basically concrete drainage pipes with a window, a door and
a pallet. Interestingly i bet they are cheap and quick to make. One
of my pet interests is disaster recovery and refugee relocation
technology. Aka, how to build a better refugee camp. This kind of
simplicity could be very useful.

Why is the government fumbling the Katrina relief efforts?

I don't get it? The US Army and Navy have done rescue operations
under heavy enemy fire, they have delivered aide on the other side of
the world inside of 48 hours of unfortunate events. I understand
that events were not well understood when the relief effort in New
Orleans started, but by this point in time a large number of military
police should be onsite, a temporary airfield and bus depot should
have been created, nearby army bases converted to refugee stations,
and those people should have been rescued. One of my friends said
'what about those who are shooting at the rescuers?' The answer is
simple, shoot back. Firing upon US officials, whether they be
police, MPs, or volunteer rescue workers, is highly illegal. The MPs
should be returning fire and arresting or, in a worst case scenario,
killing those who are trying to kill them.
The US government will put our sons, daughter, fathers, mothers and
siblings in harms way to protect our oil interests in the mideast,
but gets scared off by small arms fire in the US when we really need
them. An overwhelming force, whatever the monetary cost, is needed
to fix the mess we created in New Orleans. Yes, I said we created
the mess, mostly by waiting until now to evacuate the city.
I can go on and on, in a long tirade, but I think it is not needed
and not helpful.

If you agree with me that a larger more immediate response is needed,
contact your senator. If you agree with me that while its nice that
the government wants to look into price gouging at the gas station,
first they need to rescue those people and find out why they were not
rescued earlier, then contact your senator AND the office of the
president. Let them know you care, let them know you demand that
they care too.

Katrina Relief Funds

In the past few years I have become less and less enamored with the
Red Cross. I gave money to them during 9/11 only to discover that
they did not use it for 9/11 as they said they would. I also have no
love for the Salvation Army. WHile the SA does excellent work, they
are far to religious in their doctrine to suit me. If you are
Christian and religious, the Salvation Army is a VERY worthwhile
cause, if you don't believe in preaching to those you are
helping,then you should consider other places to send your money. I
found that FEMA (a government department that deals with disaster
relief and repair) has a list of what they consider trusted charities
that are sending relief to those hurt by Katrina. That list is here:
