If only i had maintained that obsession (model trains).

My father has a set.  When I was young, about once a year or so, he would get the itch to play with it, set it all up, make it run.... Then ignore it for another year.
Right now it is all packed away in his basement, along with my trains.
I bought a set for my nephew..... when he was born.... it will be years before he can play with it......
I kind of miss having an obsessive hobby..... too bad they are so damn expensive (hobbies in general and trains in specific).
BTW, did you know that Lionel declared bankruptcy because they lost a law suit in which they were found guilty for commercial espionage and illegal business practices.

MacRailSoft today released RailModeller 2.3, its application to design layouts for model railroads and slot car systems on a Macintosh. The program features over 150 libraries with tracks and accessories from various vendors. Features include a three-dimensional view of the trackplan, export of track plans as pictures in various formats, and automatic creation of part-lists from the current plan. RailModeller includes a comprehensive graphical editor for libraries of track-elements and can also create new libraries. RailModeller 2.3 is available for $30, and requires Mac OS 8.6 or later.

The application offers layout sizes of up to 500 x 500 meters or 1640 x 1640 feet, zoom levels of up to 500 percent, and a new color palette. Additional features include a horizontal display mode for the "Railset Palette", outlined elements without fill color, and an overhauled printing architecture for improved performance.
