um, won't sunglasses make it useless?

step one, convince everyone its not lethal. Step two, get money for
making it. Step three, go to warp nine and take over the planet next
door......
or maybe not

Laser rifle provides blinding force

Looks like it’s a little too late to get one of these to pair with
our “Universal Soldier” Halloween costume, but we have to admit to
being just a little impressed with the Air Force’s new laser rifle,
known as the PHaSR (looks like they just couldn’t resist; they claim
it stands for “Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response”). The
prototype non-lethal weapon works by firing a high-intensity beam of
laser light, temporarily blinding anyone in its path. A contractor
has just been given $250,000 to develop an eye-safe rangefinder for
the weapon. A good idea, though we think our Jean Claude-inspired
costume has that covered.

seriously though.... wouldn't cheap polarized sun glasses (thing 5
bucks at CVS) make this an ineffective weapon?
